PTD-DBM

PTD-DBM is an acronym for Protein Transduction Domain (PTD)-Dvl Binding Motif (DBM).

Simply put, it is a follicular regeneration treatment. More specifically, it is a topical peptide-based scalp treatment that inhibits the follicle contraction effects of human hormones and enzymes, thereby effectively rescuing follicles at the stem cell level. Treatment with PTD-DBM both prevents hair loss and promotes the growth of new hair follicles.

Many researchers believe that intracellular WNT signaling pathways are responsible for follicle development and hair regrowth in humans. These pathways typically consist of proteins that communicate important cellular activity and growth signals to various cells in our body.

Discovery of PTD-DBM

Professor Kang-Yeol Choi and a group of researchers at Yonsei University in South Korea have discovered a protein that causes hair loss in a condition known as androgenetic alopecia. This protein controls hair growth, and the researchers have developed a new substance that promotes hair regrowth by controlling the protein’s function.

The protein responsible is called CXXC-type zinc finger protein 5 (CXXC5), which acts as a negative regulator of the Wnt / β-catenin pathway, associated with hair regrowth and wound healing. When CXXC5 binds to a protein called Disheveled, it prevents follicle development and hair regrowth. For those of us who want to keep our hair, this is not good. This has led to the development of a new biochemical called PTD-DBM, which interferes with this binding process.
